Is an associate professor at Ovidius University of Constanta and a researcher at CICADIT. His research interests are mainly related to economic geography, territorial development and geographical information systems. His PhD thesis was focused on regional development issues in the Republic of Moldova. Since 2010 dr. Sirodoev has been involved in research topics on Romania and transnational and inter-disciplinary coverage. He was a team-leader of one research project implemented in cooperation with urban planners from Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism. Dr. Sirodoev was a director of a national project related to adaptation of national territorial development in Romania to EU’s framework in the field. He was also assisting the project director in a NATO-funded project and was responsible for GIS modeling in this project. Dr. Sirodoev’s experience is extended thanks to participation in other projects funded by such agencies as: Romanian Authority on Financing Scientific Research (UEFISCDI), Romanian ERASMUS Agency, United States’ Civilian Research and Development Foundation, European Structural Fund, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Population Fund, Russian Fund for Fundamental Research and Open Society Institute. Dr. Sirodoev has also gained significant research experience as visiting researcher at Pennsylvania State University (USA) and Belgorod State University (Russia). He also has a certificate from Johns Hopkins University in Data Analysis (received on-line) and an ESRI certificate in ArcGIS (received on-site).
